WINNER of the 2000 AWARD:

MATT THEODORUS |
Our winner in 2000 was Matt Theodoros. Matt met our standards of being a top
scholar, with his very high SAT scores, excellent grades and his #2 rank in his class. A
member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the Harvard Book Prize, he has
already taken engineering classes at U Lowell. His will attend Tufts University in the
Fall of 2000.
Matt is also an excellent athlete and leader among his
teammates. He competes in cross-country, indoor and outdoor track. He was selected as
Captain of his team and was named to several MVC All-Conference Teams. He plans to
continue running during college.
Matts Track Coach and Honors Spanish II teacher, Philip Maia, writes:
"Matt
is one of the most enthusiastic and hard-working student-athletes that Ive ever had
the pleasure to be associated with
(he) is a very likable, highly energetic and
conscientious young man
his effort is self-motivated
his work habits are
excellent
he fully accepts personal responsibility for his coursework
(Matt) is
very adept at expressing himself and he will question anything he does not
understand
(Matt) is a mature and concerned student-athlete who cares not only about his potential
growth, but of that of his teammates as well
during the weekends he would gather his
teammates for long training runs. As a compassionate person he would provide tutorial
assistance to anyone in need
his leadership and talent have been exemplary
his
ambition is limitless."
We are very happy with the selection of Matt, and wish him continued success in his
academics, his athletics, and in life.
